SMLA Refund Policy
OLA Administration Fee
When a player registers through the Sportzsoft App, the Ontario Lacrosse Association (OLA) collects a $30 administration fee, which is non-refundable once payment is made. As a result, any cancellation of SMLA registration may automatically incur this $30 administrative fee, regardless of the reason for cancellation.
General Refunds
-
Insufficient Players / Competitive Team Releases:
If there are insufficient players to form full teams or if a player is released by SMLA from a Competitive Team, a full refund of the registration fee will be issued, minus the $30 OLA Admin Fee. In these cases, players may also be offered the option to join a House League team (if available).
-
Refund Deadline:
Full refunds (minus the OLA Admin Fee) may be issued if requested within:
-
Two (2) weeks after the season starts for Competitive Teams
-
One (1) week after the season starts for House League Teams
After these deadlines, no refunds will be issued for voluntary withdrawals.
-
Voluntary Withdrawal:
If a player is withdrawn from the program by a parent/guardian for personal reasons — including but not limited to scheduling conflicts, dissatisfaction with coaching decisions, rules, accountability measures, or disciplinary outcomes — no refund will be issued, regardless of the timing of the withdrawal.
Injury-Related Refunds
-
Competitive Teams:
If a player sustains an injury within the first four (4) weeks of the Competitive Season that prevents further participation, they are eligible for a 50% refund of the registration fee (minus the $30 OLA Admin Fee). Medical documentation may be required.
-
House League Teams:
If a player is injured within the first two (2) weeks of the House League Season, they are eligible for a 50% refund (minus the $30 OLA Admin Fee). Medical documentation may be required.
Permanent Release Due to Code of Conduct Violations
If a player is permanently released by SMLA due to a parent/guardian or player’s violation of the Code of Conduct, no refund will be issued, regardless of the timing. This includes, but is not limited to, behavior that undermines team cohesion, disrespects volunteers or officials, or fails to uphold a positive sports environment.
Season Start Date
The season officially begins following each team's first scheduled practice.
