Strathroy Lacrosse 2020 Season
The Ontario Lacrosse Association (OLA) is continuing to monitor the COVID-19 global pandemic.  The situation remains fluid and can change day-to-day. OLA has directed our leagues to pause all sanctioned in-person lacrosse activities (try-outs, training sessions, scrimmages, practices, games, etc.) until April 5th, 2020. Online activities, including promotion, registration and planning may continue during this period. In the meantime, OLA intend to continue preparing for the upcoming season while monitoring the situation.

SMLA volunteers are also planning for the 2020 Lacrosse Season until we are directed otherwise.  We are looking forward to the upcoming season and anticipate a great year of lacrosse in Strathroy. Registration has closed and our player registration has increased from last year. This is great news for Strathroy Lacrosse as we continue to grow the sport and develop more and more lacrosse players.

Please refer to this web site or our Face Book Page as we develop our teams and schedules over the next few weeks.
We also have a few additional notes to pass along;

1) Bantam Boys Rep - this team currently has multiple players registered.  We therefore anticipate a "try-out" process. Any players who are not rostered to this team after "try-outs" will be asked to report to our House League teams. Please refer to this site for more details and a potential "try-out" schedule.

2) Bantam Girls Rep - we are trying to develop and field as many rep teams as possible moving forward.  There is a strong interest in a Bantam Girls Rep team.  Wesley GILBERT has committed to coach the team, however we do need more bantam and peewee aged girls registered to this team before we can field a team. Typically we would like to see 12 runners and a goalie. If you are interested please contact Wesley directly or our registrar Carol BALZER. Registration for this team will remain open until Sat. April 4th for any new players or players interested in switching from HL to this Rep team.

3) Peewee Boys Rep - as stated above we are trying to develop and field as many rep teams as possible.  There is a strong interest in the Peewee Boys Rep team as well.  However, we currently have 8 players registered and would need at least 4 more and a goalie before we can commit to this team.  We are also looking for a coach and bench staff as well.  This team would play league games against London, Sarnia, and Wallaceburg Peewee 2 teams so they would be very competitive. If you are interested please contact our registrar Carol BALZER. Registration for this team will remain open until Sat. April 4th for any new players or players interested in switching from HL to this Rep team.

4) HL Coaches - last year we struggled to find HL coaches and almost folded teams as a result.  We will need HL coaches again this year.  No qualification or experience needed other than a Police Check.  This is a great opportunity to learn and help develop the sport.  We have provided many coaching resources under our Coaching/Volunteer tab. Without coaches the association will not survive.
